Helpful tips when you’re visiting any Spa:

  • Look around and make sure that the spa floors, walls and ceilings are clean.
  • There should be sufficient space in treatment rooms to avoid accidents.
  • Good ventilation and lighting where necessary.
  • Check that massage tables and linen look clean before your treatment.
  • You have the right to ask your spa about their Sterilizing procedures.
  • Make sure therapist is gloved during your Brazilian or Hollywood Waxing.
  • Pedicure Foot Tub should be cleaned and sanitized between each service (if unsure ask that your pedicurist uses a disposable pedicure liner) Remember bacteria is not seen eith the naked eye so tubs may appear clean.
  • Wax Pots should look clean. No double dipping(spatula to pot to skin) during waxing service.
  • Make sure your therapist is certified or Licensed.
  • Ensure clean towels are stored in closed, clean cabinet.
  • Ensure that your spa, home based is licensed to operate there.
  • Never receive a pedicure within 24 hours of shaving or waxing your legs, or if you have any open sores on your feet or legs. This will help prevent the spread of bacteria.
  • Sometimes artificial nails begins to lift around the edges, allowing moisture to get trapped under it. If left untreated mold and fungus (green/brown discolouration)may begin to grow. Have artificial nails removed immediately and your manicurist should refer you to your doctor. Do not reapply nails until your natural nails are healthy. Without proper treatment it may result in permanent deformity of the nail.
  • You have the right to ask the operator to explain the disinfection procedures before a service begins. Many viruses including HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C , can be transmitted through the use of dirty instruments. Don’t risk your health. If the disinfection procedures doesn’t sound right to you, you should refuse the service.
